Moving from Southamerica
hi All, my fimily and I are planning to movo to St. Louis from Southamerica, I have a job offer from the company I work for, so I'll be relocated there.
Do you guys have any recommendation for places to live? We have one kid of 3 years old, so we are looking for a really nice quiet place to rise a family. And, if possible, with a catholic curch near by.
I know that the cultural shock will be huge for us, but we will adapt. I'm already familiar with the weather, I have been travelled to St. Louis in both, the winter and the summer.
Also, I would like to know the cost of living in the the St. Louis area. My salary will be 90$K/year (gross salary, I think the net will be around 63$K). Is that enough for renting a house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms? In which part of St. Louis?. what schools do you recommend? How much money do you spend on groceries and basic services like water and gas? Iwill also need to lease two cars. Is my salary enough, o I should renegotiate before moving?
Thanks in advance to all!.

There are lots of good places to raise a family, and your income should cover many different neighborhoods. Where is your company located where you will be working? I think that will make a big difference on where you should look, as well as what kind of environment you prefer (more urban, more suburban, etc.) With your salary in St. Louis you could live in the city, near the city in some of the closer in suburbs, or far out in some of the newer, nicer areas. It all depends on your preference and your desired distance from work. Good Catholic parishes are everywhere in the area so you do not have to worry about that.

Thanks for the response! My company is in Creve Coeur (Monsanto) and yes I prefere something more suburban. Distance from work is not a problem. Right now I used to drive 1 hour from/to work. And if catholic parishes are everywhere, then I think I'll have to look for a good school.
you guys have anything to recommend?

If you are working in Creve Coeur why not live there too? You should be able to find a 3BR house or condo to rent close to Monsanto fairly easily in the $1200 to $1800/mo range nearby. That would be in the Ladue or Parkway North school district (or possibly Pattonville north of Olive) and you would be close to St. Richards or St. Monica parishes. Look in the 63141 or 63146 zip codes, or possibly 63132 (Olivette) which should also have some options. I am not sure what parish is over in Olivette but I am sure they have one too! As for a preschool for a 3 year old, I know Hamilton church has a nice pre-school program located on Old Olive.

+1 on Creve Coeur and the previous suggestions. It would be very convenient to your work and it is a nice suburban family area and within your price range. St. Monica's and St. Richards are the parishes there as mentioned.
Also, your options increase a great deal if you are willing to go up to an hour commute. You can get to and from anywhere in the metro area within an hour's time.

I agree with the others that Creve Coeur sounds like the natural option here. It appears to have everything you are looking for.
As you'll only be renting anyway, if you find there is an area you like better after getting to know St. Louis better, you can always move.
