Default lack of building advertisements frustrating

Correct me if I'm wrong point them out if you can but there is a huge lack of advertisements on buildings.

The biggest name that comes to mind is Pujols. Why there isn't a huge photo of him draped over a building somewhere downtown, is beyond me. Maybe there's been one near/around Busch stadium?

I've never been too fond of this building others have and I can understand the appeal. Its one of the first buildings you see taking the metrolink into downtown. Certainly one side could be used for advertising El Hombre.

While Athletica don't play downtown how could you pass an opportunity to put Hope Solo on a building?

I'm not asking for a Times Square but how about creating some energy downtown there are some buildings that could use it. Even owners of closed buildings are renting their window fronts for advertisement. Lumiere's video board is a good start and hopefully there's more to come.

Hopefully the ASG brings a new look. We've got great architecture maybe there's better ways to highlight it.

I don't know who the face of the blues is, and the rams like the blues are rebuilding, though I'd probably go with Steven Jackson somewhere in the vicinity of EJD. I've seen a Michael Jordan gatorade ad on the side of a gas station building in Chicago and it was freaking awesome. A gas station.

this is an interesting article and some great art
Wooster Collective: "New York Street Advertising Takeover" Brings Art to Over 120 Illegal Billboards in NYC

St. Louis News - State of Street Art: Vandalism or legit, it's not going away - page 1

st. louis isn't short on its fair share of graffiti artists either, businesses could legitimize these artists and clean up parts of the city and attract density.

YouTube - Street advertising in Kiev (Ukraine)

also cool. Malls are dying pretty rapidly hopefully these can be salvaged from them lol

http://www.jcdecauxna.com/pages/stre...t.aspx?mid=146

there are a few around town already but there needs to be more street advertising and of all types

A lot of advertising dollars could go funding bus stop shelters jcdeacaux was founded on that. Their really not that prominent in St. Louis. I wonder how much Metro actually collects from advertising. I know they advertise inside their trains but they could probably gain a lot from advertising on the outside of the train itself. I personally wouldn't mind it.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/29923994@N03/3088511106/

this is a good example. I haven't seen a metro train with any advertising on it.

I've never seen this train.

To help bring attention, to some lesser known people, events, organizations, etc., that would be positive for public and/or private entities to do... I like that idea, as long as its not tacky, and done with style. Having something like the example of Athletica members on some structures and whatnot, that would get more people curious and then interested and then potentially increase attendance or purchasing; simple advertising.

So start your own ad company and sell some ad space. Sounds like you have a lot of ideas-go make money off of them! Like ShadowCaver said, however, please keep it tasteful.

I like the idea (in theory if done at least moderately tastefully), though I must say I find it odd to be "frustrated" about it.
