Default st. louis xtreme activities

Ok St. Louis doesn't have the Sand Dunes or a mountain or good climbing areas but surely it has some physically draining features?

I'm not talking or interested in marathons or running. I'm talking inclines and non-flat surfaces back breaking gut busting activities. The type of activities that leave you aching all over the next day. Intense trails that weed out the weaker ones from the real men.

Something that looks down on you and intimidates the weak at heart. What is it and where is it? Any blogs out there along these lines? The St. Louis physical challenge or something? I want to find it and I want to conquer it.

MOD NOTE: The OP requested info pertaining to 'extreme' type and related activities around the StL area... that is it, that is all - no need to denigrate into other topics herein.

For those desiring to discuss running and/or marathons, please start a thread devoted to such. Thanks.

Dude just drive out to one of the many mountain biking trails in Eureka or western St. Charles County. They will get your blood pumpin!

The best trails for elevation around here are down in the Ozarks. Try this one:

Mark Twain National Forest - Council Bluff Recreation Area - US Forest Service

Council Bluff Lake Trail. I have never been on it, just the lake, but I hear it goes up and down quite a bit. It's about an hour and a half from I-255 & I-55.
