Default Favorite St. Louis neighborhood

What is your favorite neighborhood in St. Louis? I'll start, I like the Shaw neighborhood the best for its quaintness. The diversity of architecture, walkability, abundance of mature trees, and central location make it a favorite for me. Also, it's where my aunt lived when she lived in town.

I lived in the CWE (Lindell/Union area) and it was a great neighborhood.

I really can't say I have a favorite. I guess my top two contenders would be The Hill and The Central West End. I'm guessing most people mean The Hill when they are referring to Shaw..I've never heard the term until now, but I guess I miss things now on then. I'm assuming people mean the Southwest Side or somewhere on the South Side.

Shaw is the neighborhood East of the Botanical Gardens, South of I-44, West of Grand, and North of Tower Grove Park. Not to be confused with The Hill, which is West of Kingshighway.

Both are great neighborhoods, but can be worlds apart in terms of culture. Shaw isn't discussed all that much because it doesn't have a lot of businesses. It looks a lot and feels much like Tower Grove South, but more residential.

I grew up in Tower Grove Heights. It was a wonderful area to grow up back in the 60's. So many great memories. Great schools, Grand Ave. for shopping and the Park to hang out with friends. Although, the boys were much cuter on the other side of the Park.

Shaw and The Hill are two entirely different neighborhoods.

I mean, you're probably right since you actually live there. I'm just going by my experience with that.
