Are you looking for a small-town suburban feel? Collinsville has that in spades. But as a recent grad, I'd personally look in St. Louis. Washington Ave. downtown has lots of rental lofts and your commute would be under a half hour. You could also look at Soulard and Tower Grove South. If you share a bit more about what you're looking for and what your housing budget is going to be, I can make more tailored suggestions.

Best of luck!

^ As a recent grad. Definately look at living downtown or in Soulard. If you live in Collinsville it will be difficult to meet and make new friends. Trust me, you'll have a blast living in the city.

The previous posters have good points about the more lively parts of St. Louis, but if you specifically want to be in Illinois you also might want to consider Edwardsville around Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Nice smaller city with a great college town feel, affordable housing, some terrific restaurants and a friendly population. Easy commute to STL jobs or nightlife from either Collinsville or Edwardsville/Glen Carbon. You can message me for more details if you like. Good luck with your move!
