Love/Like/Dislike/Hate about living in St Louis
what do you Love/Like/Dislike/Hate about living in St Louis?
for the poll, on a scale of 1-9, how would you rate your overall satisfaction with living in St Louis?
Native or Transplant?
Conservative/Moderate/Liberal?
Boxers or Briefs?

I really do not see how this poll can be beneficial.

dont see whats not to understand
gives outsiders a look into what people like and dont about St Louis.
and the poll just gives one an idea how much people like their city as compared to other people in other cities.

I think that perhaps some qualifying criterion as to WHY a respondent would like/dislike living in St. Louis (i.e low cost of living vs. parochial mindset in spots) would be beneficial in conducting a more accurate and valid poll.

Indeed, it's a vegetable poll. When you ask a little kid if they like or dislike vegetables, the ones who do not enjoy vegetables may not like them for silly reasons (look, feel, etc.). Their might be many people who dislike st. louis based on what they've heard and not seen or had an outlier bad experience on a random weekend trip. This poll does not give any basis for stating ones opinion and therefore cannot weed out unjustified answers (Cubs fans may rate st. louis awefully simply on a rivalry point of view).

that is why the poll is designed for those living in (or having lived in) st louis.
after that, one has to trust people to respond appropriately...

I don't believe it is about the reader being appropriate. Those who dislike St. Louis because of silly reasons are still appropriately labeling their feelings toward the city in the poll. I believe it is the poll itself that is inappropriate. Assuming you are trying to get these responses for constructive reasons, you should be more specific in your labeling in order to gain perspective on the negative and positive aspects of our city that are controllable (crime, schools, etc.) The fact that 200 people hate our city is unremarkable unless you can say that 180 out of those 200 hate it because of crime (or some other controllable circumstance). The same can be said for the positives. That is the goal of a poll, otherwise you are stuck with useless data.
