Nice place to board your dog?
Just curious if any of your ever board your dog? With vacations coming up, we are making arrangements for our pooch. We have done the Kennelwood thing and were 100% dissatisfied. TOO much time in the cage.
Most recently we used Petropolis in Chesterfield. MUCH better than Kennelwood but still not as much freedom as we prefer. As she is a very social dog (with people and other dogs), we would like to find a laid back, home-like environment. A place where animals have freedom and/or a lot of time outside.
Perhaps no such place exists... but I figured worth a shot. SOme people have suggested a pet sitter at our house... but not really interested in going that route. Prefer not to have a stranger in our home when we aren't there.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

I have always bored my dogs at Westinn Kennels in St. Charles. As long as your dog enjoys being around other dogs they will let them out for potty/playtime 3 times a day. Even if they don't enjoy other dogs they still get out those times, and you can also pay extra to have one on one playtime with a kennel worker.

You need to check out Happy Tails on Lindbergh Blvd:
Happy Tails Inc., personalized pet care.
I used to take my dog there when she was younger. She's quite elderly now and we don't board her anymore.
Happy Tails is a no cage boarding facility, open 24/7/365.
Another GREAT place is Country Acres on Weidman Road in West County. They're a family owned kennel, the family lives on the property. I took my dog there for boarding and grooming, again, when she was younger and in much better health. The whole staff at Country Acres is totally dedicated to making sure your pet is happy and taken care of. They even have a senior section for older dogs. I cannot recommend them enough.
Home
Hope that helps.

I had heard about Happy Tails! I'm going to have to check into them. My only reservation comes from a coworker, whose pooch ended up with a nasty illness and high vet bill after leaving there. THe vet blamed the amount of dogs and lack of seclusion in cages. THere's really no perfect situation, is there?! ha!

The wife and I have a beautiful English Bulldog (Meathead) and were delighted to see this post...
To bore your poochie, simply turn into the St. Louis Rams every week on Fox when it's not blacked out and...oh WAIT..."BOARD"....I'm sorry, never mind!

Perhaps I should just leave my beloved mutt in the house alone with the Rams on loop?! Cheap babysitter... =)
