Smile St. Louis...As You Need to Know it....

While do some research for a friend of mine, I decided to go a liitle further and came upon this:

.............St. Louis, Missouri - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While some or most of you may or may not be aware of these 'facts', it does make for some interesting reading. I found out a few things that I had been wondering about for some time about my hometown. Like the Hogan's Gang, which my Daddy used to tell me about.

Anyway, open it up, read and enjoy.

While I am not going to dispute the facts since I am not too aware of local history. And I would guess that most of it is correct,. Just remember that wikipedia is not exactly the most reliable source of information.

Agree with Piranha above, it is probably not the best information. However, it is a great start and gets you interested in a lot of things you've never heard of before. Which then prompts you to pursue more legitimate historical writing. Not bad in my opinion...

Everything I read there is pretty accurate..... I remember my Grandfather Petschel telling stories about how members of Hogans gang would come to his barber shop in South STL.

Yes, I am aware of Wiki's reputation. Having spent most of my life in St. Louis during much of the time period sometimes referred to, it was interesting to relive so many past experiences. And as kshe95girl relates, it really is pretty accurate.

What I found interesting and caused additional reading was the many links to further research in so many areas which perhaps I would not have ventured. It is for info and enjoyment IF you are interested in St. Louis. Not a bad place to begin your journey. Take care....
