I am not a Rush fan, by any means, to tell you the truth have not listened to him for a really long time, the last time I was driving from STL to Dallas at like 3am he was on.
People seem to turn this into a Political thing rather then a race thing ever time.
I personally love this saying "St. Louis is more of a liberal town", which may be true BUT!!!!!!! NEWSFLASH! The people who buy Rams tickets are NOT, they are the same people who file into Busch stadium to that support an owner that openly supports the GOP. The majority of attendees to the Rams games are from the surrounding counties or the tickets are purchased by major corporations, which both are predominantly GOP supporters.
St. Louis is a Liberal city, all cities are, but once you get out of the city boundaries, the people with the money, and the ones that WILL go to games, they are predominantly Conservative. What do you think the owners care about, the ones who WILL purchase tickets are those who will NOT????
Wanna turn it into a racial thing
Stephen A. Smith - on the subject puts it quite well
That's waaay too much of a blanket statement and incomplete. You underestimate the political diversity in St. Louis sports fans as season ticket holders and individual game buyers. You also underestimate the amount of moderates, liberals and non-conservatives in different geographic parts of st.louis.
Image, presentation, and how you do things matters. DeWitt presents himself publicly in a much different way than Limbaugh and that counts.
Oh happy day! Checketts has come to his senses and he's still going to pursue buying the team to keep them in St. Louis. Hopefully the political and racial fervor goes away now, although I see a lot of hurt and angry dittoheads.
It's great news that Rush got dropped from the group, and now the far right loony bin is foaming at the mouth because of it. Is it that hard to believe the NFL doesn't want one of the most controversial people in the entire country owning a big part of one of its teams? And Dave Checketts is smart enough to know Limbaugh's presence was causing a HUGE distraction from his bid for the team.
Face it, even if you love Limbaugh plenty of people loathe him. He's a lightning rod for the left the same way Michael Moore and now Keith Olbermann are for the right. If you saw one of them make a bid for a pro sports team you'd see the same fervor. It may or may not be fair, but when you make your living stirring the pot, that's what happens.

More like Checketts and his group caved into political pressure from the facsist lib media and other fringe leftist wacko groups. What weaklings. So much for the core American macroeconomic values/concepts of capitalism and free market. Another step towards Socialism. This character of this nation is rapidly going down the tubes. Very disappointing and this will come back to bite St. Louis, the Rams and their fans in the @ss.
I love the modern NFL - "We allow murderers, dog killers, rapists and psychotic roiders, but NO Conservatives!!"

An NFL stadium was not made to be the frontline of liberals vs conservatives. I think the whole country deplores murder rape and drug abuse. Vick was a tough one though, but even that wasn't as bad as Rush. Vick didn't make his living by being a dog killer either. He's also remorseful about it and wants to do what he can to right his wrong.
Limbaugh is a controversial figure and he makes no apologies about it. He puts himself in the middle of political and racial fervor and the NFL doesn't want him dragging them into it by association.
Checketts is a conservative and a mormon and I fully expect him to get the nod and I support his bid (now lol).
You're just mad. Rightfully so though, your boy didn't get the nod. Anyway I don't want any trouble. I'll fight you in the correct forum for political debate. Rams games ain't it -- that's for football and the tickets are on me, whadda ya say?
Wow reading the PD people are angry with Checketts. Hopefully the idiots don't run him out of town. He's turned the Blues around and he's renovating Kiel Opera House and he wants to keep the Rams in St. Louis.
Hopefully this blows over soon and I expect it to.

OK. Truce it is. There's just something odious about a person being denied the chance to purchase the Rams solely on account of his beliefs. If the free market rejected the Rams on account of Rush owning a part of the team, that would be another story. I'll just say he really is a harmless lovable little fuzzball compared to certain characters out there (J. Paul Emerson and his deservedly very short-lived show on San Francisco's KSFO back in the 1990s comes to mind), his call screener is black, and Clarence Thomas presided over his (sadly unsuccessful) marriage to Marta. Anyway.....
I fear the Rams are going to follow in the Lions' paw-steps and go 0-16 this year.
