Default Need Help Looking for a new place to live

My husband and myself w/ our two boys 4/2 are interested in MO for our next home. My in-laws live in Edwardsville, IL and we went to St. Louis for lunch and I fell in love. We are looking outside of the city area where there won't be neighbors and our boys will able to have a swingset, but we want a short drive to the city. Any suggestions??? Thanks for the help!!

Welcome to the area... guess first question is, what is considered a 'short' drive? One person's short drive might not jive with anothers'

Is employment an issue? How about schools? How much land, what price range, etc.?

Can live in either IL or MO and be a short drive to the city... when you state city, are you referring to downtown, or just overall 'city'?

We're looking for a nice piece of land preferably an acre or two. I would like to live close to a Bed Bath and Beyond for I will be transfering to one in that area when we move. My eldest is in preschool but I am interested in areas with good schooling. I would like to have local grocery & cvs nearby but am willing to drive around 10mi for any major shopping. We don't want to be suffocated by neighbors cause we live in a townhouse now. As for pricing no more than 105,000

I would look on the Illinois side. Maybe around Waterloo/Columbia. You'll have to go pretty far west to be able to get anything in your price range. Missouri side, you might be able to find something south of the city. Maybe Arnold and such.

Good Luck! How exciting!

Less than 105,000 with land, decent schools, and a short commute to downtown doesn't exist on the Missouri side. 105,000 doesn't buy you much in the metro except MAYBE a teeny starter on an even teenier lot in a less than ideal school district. Illinois side may be your only option.
