I would link to where I got it, but it's from a thread in another forum on another site, so I don't know if I'm allowed to link there.

It's amazing how great this area is looking these days. When I was a student at SLU in the mid-/late-90s, the surrounding neighborhood was nowhere near as nice as it is today. It has the potential to take on a small-scale "college town" atmosphere, so let's hope the redevelopment efforts continue!

Heck, it's even much different then when I started there, and I just graduated in May.

With a bar going in, lets just hope those lofts are relatively sound-proof. I used to live in the lofts overlooking Humphreys, and Wednesday nights were a pain if I had a test the next day.

It is my understanding that there wil be two new bars going in near Humphrey's. One being a "nicer" microbrewery bar/restaurant.

I'm waiting for SLU to take over the former Pevely plant some point on S Grand and Choteau as well. Pevely moved to the burbs this past year. We'll see. That would help complete the already vast improvements near SLU's Med school.

Mid-Town has lots of dining options near SLU these days, Vito's,Good Pie,Triumph,Buffalo Brewing,The U,Chuy Arzola's,Pappy's Cafe Ventana, etc...and these two new bars at SLU.

The area from Mid-Town to Central West End keeps improving.

When I'm in town, Pappy's is a no-brainer for BBQ, good lunch specials at Good Pie,the Chicken Ranch sammie at The U, and long standby Vito's all reccommend here.

What's the other new bar going in? Wish something new would go into the abandoned buildings by Laclede Bar & Grill...

And yes, Wednesday is Penny Pitchers at Humphreys.
