I'm pretty sure you were the one to try to get the thread off topic. This has been beat to death. You obviously want to get some sort of reaction posting something like that to begin with. I grew up spending much more time in KC, I couldn't disagree with you more.

The brand spanking new Carondelet YMCA has an awesome indoor waterpark. Lots of fun!

The wife and I go there twice a year to tune up before heading to skiing heaven in Colorado and Utah.
PS- Due to the cold snap, Hidden Valley moved their official opening to the 12th!

PPS- About the KC thing, the cities are SO different they are almost impossible to compare. The fact is, the grass is always greener on the other side. My brother and sister-in-law live in the heart of KC and we love to visit them, as the amenities are so different there. That being said, they are here every chance they can get to hit the Arch, Zoo, Grant's Farm, and City Museum. Kind of comparing apples and oranges to me...

Wow, y'all really helped me out! While skiing here pales in comparison to the options up in Minny (Giants Ridge & Lutsen...anyone? Anyone?), it sounds like the difficulty here would be right on par w/where the kids would enjoy it.

Loved all the waterpark ideas too---w/KC and Branson being a bit further than we're looking for over the winter break, I'm setting my sights on the Tan-Tar-A resort (nice coupon, thanks!) or even just hitting up the fresh, new, and exciting YMCA that was mentioned. We live in St. Peters right now, and the RecPlex here has a pretty nice little waterpark in it, too---lots of options.

Re: the KC vs STL comparison, it definitely is an apples to oranges comparison---both cities are even quite a bit alike Minneapolis/St. Paul, but each just has their own personality.

Thanks for all the feedback...keep it coming!

We used to go to Tan-Tar-A in the wintertime as a child. The entire place is covered in lights. There are several things to do at the resort for the kids. If you like to shop, the outlet mall is located nearby.

The only indoor waterthing I know of in the Stl area is the St. Peters Rec Plex. But its not a resort. Here is what they have in the pool area: The Natatorium includes:

> Diving (10-meter tower, 1- and 3-meter springboards)
> 50-meter heated competition swimming pool
> Hot tub
> Sauna
> Adjustable depth hydraulic pool floor
> Moveable bulkhead
> Spectator seating for events
> 3,300-sq.-ft. heated family leisure pool
-130-foot waterslide
- water play features
- current channel
> Lifeguards on duty at all times.

That's cool, but let's hope we don't get any rain or freezing drizzle on Saturday, because that will lead to an icy mess, especially for the first-timers.

Go after REAL snow falls - the sun will come out, and it will be a great experience!
