Question Moving to St. Louis

Hi! My family and I are relocating just a few hours north to St. Louis and are interested in a family oriented community with lots of conveniences - grocery, shopping, close to a great elementary school. We have a 4 yo and want a house around the $250K-$325K price range. The important factor for us is to have quick access to I55 south as my aging parents live south of St Louis about an hour away along the river in Chester, IL so we're looking at the I55 corrider as they call it - Arnold, Imperial, Oakville, Mehville, even Barnhart, Pevely and Festus. What is important to us is not to be more than 25 - 30 min away from St Louis city. We've looked at Festus and retail & shopping is very lacking. We'd like to live in somewhat modern/developed more upscale community. Daycares are important and lots of educational activities for young children. A superWalmart is important to me as one stop shopping is what I do.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we should live in these areas? And an area that at least keeps us out of the worst morning & evening traffic jams? Family oriented, safe, great shopping, nice community. close to I55.

Thanks so much!

I know this may be a little more north than you planned on, but mapquest Edwardsville, IL and see what you think. I-255 is just minutes away, and we have a lot of expansion and great things going on. Not to mention, the school system here is outstanding! I can be in Busch Stadium in 30 minutes from my front door to the stadium. Let me know if you want more info! I love it here!

I've got two nice listings in Barnhart. One is on the market at $164,900 and the other is on the market at $339,900 and has almost 6 acres. Not to get too commercial, but if you like, drop me a line and I would be happy to answer any questions that you might have!
