Do you have some proof that your demographic statistics are more valid than aragx6's?

I don't understand all the fear, lies and urban legends of East Saint Louis. I've been there more than a few time and have never had any problems. The first time were were 18, heading home (central Illinois at the time) from a heavy metal concert at riverport. One of our friends said never go to ESL. That meant we HAD to get off the interstate and make a stop. We stopped at a gas station to get some pop and smokes for the rest of the ride home. The few folks there were friendly, asked if we were going to the boat (Casino Queen). We told them no, that we just got done seeing a Pantera/Sepultura concert at riverport. Keep in mind that our motley crew looked like a bunch of hung over, pi$$3d off bikers. No one ever gave us any trouble, and we changed the perception to our member who was scared to stop.
Since then I have been there a few times, mostly to the Queen or Pops, Uncle Larry's and have never had any problems.

That's because you are going to the Queen and Pops. If you go in to the actual city of ESL, especially after dark, you will not be comfortable, and you will not be welcomed. A gas station is one thing, as they are supposed to be friendly. Get out and tour the city and you will see the difference.

There are currently less than 30k people in East St Louis, yet in 2006 it saw 25 murders. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that number was beat in 07. In case you aren't familiar with crime stats, 25 murders in a city of 28k is very, very high.

Actually, I wasn't responding to him I was responding to "srcckj saying that the recent census was only 90% black. I was not resonding to "aragx6", infact, I didn't even know he had posted that.

Racial riots and the movement of commercial to Fairview Heights are responsible for some of the downfall of East St Louis but it is a much more complex problem than your simple and ignorant explanation gives credit to. Read some history books relating to ESL as part of your history homework and you will be able to add commentary that is enlightening rather than abrasive.

You pale faces polluted the city with your chemicals and poisons, incorporated into small towns like sauget, alorton, and national city and stripped the city of it tax base while raping the infrastructure (kinda hard to put a tool booth in on a state or national highway to pay for city services like police and fire departments illinois and the the us govt kinda have a problem with that).

During it's hey day the white run city still failed to provide services for the residents, both black and white. Do you know why? None of them lived in east saint louis. City hall was run by white crooks from the white cities surrounding east saint louis. When they left in 1971 the city was a shambles. Don't blame black people for the plight in the city. You white people caused. They just have to live with it and make out as best as they can.

So, you're saying whitey ruined the city? Ok, well we have been gone for 40 years. Why haven't you fixed it by now?

Cities can turn around and when the business and population moved out then that should have been the sign for ESL to turn around and do something about it. Instead you had idiots who would rather see it die out for the sake of saying that they live in the hood rather than doing something that would make living in this city worth something.

I've lived here all of my life and no I saw no whites running around killing one another...I saw blacks killing one another, I saw blacks selling drugs, I saw blacks out joining gangs. Yes there are other races that live in this city and yes the majority of black people in this city are mild mannered and actually want to see the city thrive but the "criminals" and "gangsters" run this city for some reason and its not going to change anytime soon. We've had many corrupt officials that have raped this city much more than the "whiteman" ever could. The citizens of East St. Louis will see ESL turnaround when they finally want it to turn around. Until then, it will stay in it's dying state.

As far as the people who ponder about going to East St. Louis....No one is stopping you from doing anything that you want to do. If you go into the city just know that there are a lot of people that run around this city that are very bloodthirsty. I would not want you to experience something just because others may disagree. Come through the city, grab a snack at a restaurant, hell stay a day if that's what you choose to do but don't let no one on this forum scare you out of doing what you want to do because it's something that they would not personally do.

I'm sorry for the spelling critique, but your original post was so racist and trollish that the Ernst misspelling was a giveaway to the fact that you were a troll. Your misspellings are no problem, but the racism is.

Even though you may not be a troll, you are still guilty of giving racial identity more value than it deserves. If white people happened to be on the board of a company that was harmful to ESL it doesn't mean that white people are bad - thats inductive reasoning which you should know has no place in logical thought.

I find it ironic that the theme of your post is to lay blame on the types of people who exploit a region for monetary gain only to end your post with this: "IT FEELS GOOD TO MAKE A $120k AND NOT PAY TAXES". By not paying taxes aren't you exactly like the people who anger you? You make a decent salary and don't pay a cent for the roads/schools/police/fireman that you take advantage of every day, and you seem to be proud of it too! Seems awfully hypocritical to me.
