E. St. Louis is an economically depressed city. Because of the desperation created by such a condition, it is also dangerous. Most of its residents are good people, period. Unfortunately, there are some residents that will take advantage of others. I coach a youth sports team in Washington Park and pick kids up for practice once a week. I dont feel anxious when I am there, but I once was told by a police officer to leave a gas station immediately because "you will get robbed." A sad testament from someone "in the know."

As soon as IL loosens up concealed weapons laws...you will see an immediate decline in robbery...and a thinning of the gene pool. I heard recently IL law was passed to allow permit holders to store a weapon in their glove box or arm rest compartment...
