Yes, this is a drinking city--which I enjoy...but these rankings are based on pretty sad stats:
  • death rates from alcoholic liver disease
  • auto accidents involving alcohol
  • frequency of binge-drinking in the past month
  • number of DUI arrests
  • severity of DUI penalties
Can't have much pride in liver disease, and drinking & driving. The fact that taxis can be pretty non-existant around here doesn't help.

One of the benefits of living in downtown neighborhoods is that you can usually walk home after a night of partying. One of the drawbacks is finding drunks passed out in the hedges, broken bottles, urine on the side of your home and vomit on the sidewalk.
