The Gas Company Has Lost There Minds Charging Outrages Gas Prices. And Ameren Ue Is Just As Bad..some Areas Are Growing As Others Are Not..there Is A Lot Of Devlopment Here But Its Overpriced. Example There Are Condos Going Up On Grand Ave For About $200k But They Are 3 Blocks From The Gangs And Crime. Really Just 3 To 4 Blocks Away From The Projects..there Prositutes All Up And Down Grand Ave And Other Areas..its Just Horrible..recently I Moved To Georgia And I Love It..i Will Never Go Back..only To Visit Family Amd Friends.....

STL is trash central. We have lived here for 3+ years, and are moving back home next year. We live in the Ballwin /Manchester area and it's awful. Very low class.

I agree with you James1968.

I agree with you James1968.
Way to make a blanket judgment based on one (small) part of the metro area.

There are also lots of homes in the Ellisville area (south of Manchester and east of Clarkson) that I believe are in the Rockwood district and within your price range.

As a whole MSA, St. Louis makes Detroit look like a hellhole.
I have to agree to a point with James1968.

In my nine years in Tower Grove, we were burglarized three times and had my beater broken into once.

I would have been assaulted once but my mutt decided to interfere ... it was fun watching a guy run down with his hands covering his crotch dragging a german shepherd mix down Compton Ave.

My point is that if you think that the only crime ridden areas in the St. Louis area are the north city and East St. Louis, you are deceiving yourself.

No, St. Louis is no where as bad as Detroit ... YET, but both have similar problems.

To be honest with you I don't consider three burglaries and a car break-in over the course of nine years to define crime ridden. Property crimes are common all over the place and are prevalent in all cities. Crime ridden is murders, near daily robberies, drug dealers on every corner, and gangs roaming the streets. And yes that really is limited to north and east St. Louis, and perhaps one or two southside neighborhoods.

As for Tower Grove, I think the crime is definitely higher than it should be, but I wouldn't call it crime ridden. It is a really great, vibrant neighborhood and I think it is one of the top destination neighborhoods on the south side.
