Default Byrnes Mill

A thread in the Politics section actually inspired me to start this.

What is with this town? Maybe it's just me, but I actually drive way out of the way to avoid this little traffic violation trap of a town. I've only driven through a handful of times and got a ticket one of the times. It seems that anybody that drives through with any frequency is bound to be pulled over at least once. Even if you are obeying the traffic laws.

Anybody else feel the same way about Byrnes Mill? If you don't know, it's a tiny town just past High Ridge in Jeff Co. off of 30.

Never heard of it, but I've never been out that way.

I'll add that Rock Hill feels like a giant speed trap. Between the cop that likes to sit at the bottom of the hill on Manchester Rd (30MPH zone) and all the hiding spots on McKnight/Rock Hill Rd (35MPH I think?), I'm always watching my speed and warning my friends when they head out my direction.

I'm not familiar with Byrnes Mill, but traffic tickets are an easy way for a small town to generate revenue. Not to mention it keeps their streets safe for the residents.

why there isn't more discussion about consolidating cities in st louis county is beyond me. These speed traps are a direct effect of these small municipalities. St Louis County Police department is trying to essentially help smaller police departments...combining services is great and you would think consolidation would be the logical progression but for some reason it hasn't gotten there.

I wonder which cities in St Louis County will be the first to consolidate? My hope is that if two cities consolidate then the others will follow, then eventually we can work down to single digit municipalities.

What could be done to make that happen? Citizen signatures? Would it have to be put to a public vote or something?

Because people like to feel that they have control over their neighborhood. Notice how when it comes to issues like an increase in taxes, support is usually high even if they are the staunch anti-taxes type. They feel their money is being kept in their little area where it affects them the most.

I disagree with that sentiment, but that's why we have so many tiny muni's in St. Louis county.

Sorry use to work for Byrnes Mill and they suck big time. They want to be another St. Louis Co. They have less than a 5 mile stretch of 30 and half mile off 30 on hwy W. They have wanted to incorp. House Springs for years and HS tells them NO WAY. They are rude and the tax's are high. I wouldn't live there.

Byrnes Mill should hang their heads in shame. Writing speeding tickets to generate revenue to justify their own existence is simply immoral. Shame on you. It seems like if the city officials were slightly smarter they could seek other more inventive methods of generating revenue.....oh wait you did that by trying to incorporate uninhabited areas to write more tickets! LOL What a poor excuse of a city you are!

How is it immoral to write tickets for offenses that have been commited, no matter the motive?
