Subaru Forester is best small SUV, 'Consumer Reports' says

Well, even though it has some shortcomings like an outdated infotainment system it managed to garner the top spot in the category by Consumer Reports.

Too bad they took a clean looking vehicle and made it so damned homely in the redesign.

The redesign is too slab sided.

I read a review that said the Nav system had an "atari" era screen LMAO! I concur, man which fool at Subaru thought it was acceptable to keep that antiquated screen in such a competitive segment?

2014 Subaru Forester is a top IIHS safety pick and also was one of the very few small SUVs that had outstanding safety performance in the new stringent overlap test. Ford Escape did very poorly. Good job Subaru!

"The car also was the only small SUV to pass a particularly challenging front-offset crash test performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety."

From the link in the O.P.'s post. Actually, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport passed that as well.

Anyone who makes a decision based on something in Consumer Reports, is an absolute fool. You could just as well add the "wisdom" of the Better Business Bureau...

I have a 2012. I am not impressed. At 30,000 miles it has annoying rattles and a horrible Bluetooth and audio system. However, most troubling is its unacceptable consumption of synthetic oil - a quart every 2000 to 2500 miles. The body is also very thin and gets dented very easily.

In contrast the 3 Subarus I previously owned were solid cars.

Interesting regarding the build quality of the newer Subaru vehicles. I have an 04 Forester I bought used (1 Owner) and has hardly any rattles at all. Only going over horrid asphalt roads in WI do you get a few dash rattles. I'm also quite pleased that the prior owner did the head gasket as it now had 112K on the clock.
