Hi there. OK, so. Some guy out here is selling a 93 Impreza base that's ugly (real rough) and purple on the outside but runs mint for $500. I'm seriously tempted to get it. High miles unknown, over 200k I think, but, hey, it's a Subaru. Auto, AWD, AC.
Assuming I don't already have a vehicle, should I get it?
yeah if the seller had documentation that the timing belt has been changed semi-recently, for just a A to B beater to get you by for a while, and if everything is in decent working order, then yeah I say go for it. That's got the 1.8l in it which is a reliable engine. however, if the timing belt hasnt been done, you're looking at a minimum of $500 bucks to get it changed, and then you've got a minimum of $1k in a very high mileage, nearly 25 year old car, which means I would keep looking.
