The Subaru Legacy 2010[/url] defines style and intelligence. Its attractive cloth-trimmed upholstery, standard-equipped advanced frontal airbag system and antitheft security system make it smart, safe and practical choice for any driver. Upon introduction, the 2.5i is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, H4, 170-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 27-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a variable speed automatic transmission with overdrive is optional. The 3.6R Limited is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter, H6, 256-horsepower engine that achieves 18-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.
Don't know which engine I would want. I'm not a fast driver so I would probably stick with the 2.5 now that the fuel economy has been greatly improved. Would consider either this one or the 6 cylinder for smooth acceleration.
The optional CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), about a $1,000, yields 22/29 City/Hwy MPG, with a bit less performance and driving fun, but great milage for a mid-sized AWD car.
I can tell you the fun one is the Legacy GT with the 265hp WRX engine and the six speed. It's a fast car and great on track.
