Is this a symptom of ADD? Since I've gotten married, I've found that I've become really dependent on my husband. I didn't get married until I was 40 and before then I was the most independent person I knew. I've traveled and worked around the world all alone. I would change life plans on the spur of the moment. Now, ehhh, I have a difficult time just going to get the oil changed in the car.
Anyway, sorry if I've butted in, but it's interesting to see myself in some of these scenarios.

I don't know whether relying on your spouse is an ADD thing or a married thing but I did tend to put things off that I knew he would take charge of. Right now I know that I have a lot to do for a kid summer camp that I manage and I also know that I will manage to put everything off till the last minute. Guess I'd better take my piracetam and see what happens. It does have one bad side effect though--it tends to make me very sleepy, which is the opposite of what you would expect and then the dreams are quite powerful.
Does anyone know how much choline should be taken with piracetam? I just realized that choline may be in my B-complex vitamin. I don't know how much, since I am at work, but I'm wondering what would be the suggested amount.

I'm actually glad you asked this since I've just been doing it the lazy girl's way. I take the B vits too and then another 1200 mg pill of sunflower lecithin for each piracetam pill. You'll know if you get too much b/c you'll start to smell fishy but apparently most of us don't get enough and the consequences of being low are that you'll get a fatty liver and renal failure so I'll pick smelling a little fishy any day. Link: Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University You will also be at greater risk for heart disease and alzheimer's if you run low. Think acetylcholine--the main neurotransmitter involved in brain functions and memory. You need it for methylation too--not sure what that is exactly, but I do know that it's extremely important to the smooth functioning of your body.

Thanks!
I still haven't gotten any piracetam because I'm now paralyzed by all the choices. And now I'm reading about the additional supplements to take with it. Oy.
I checked my B-comlex and nope, no choline. I'm now looking to order some through Amazon. I just signed up for "Prime" so I might as well wear it out! I'm not sure if getting the Insotrol (sp?) is needed or not? IO'll tell you what, I have a fatty liver and the docs can't figure out why except to say that it may be because I am about 40 pounds overweight. Heck, maybe this choline would even help with my rosacea. I'll start up the piracetam when I get the choline.
Well since we started this discussion I started to take the piracetam again. The effect is very subtle and I take 2/day--the brand I got from amazon--same thing you got I think. I don't really feel anything like I do when I take adderall but I have noticed an increased ability to get things done--I putzed around today and got several things done that I've been putting off for awhile and that's really big for me b/c I've been known to put things off forever at times. It's hard to say though b/c I have been off work for this week and I'm going to manage a youth camp next week so there is some motivation to get things done before I take off. But I also got my whole file cabinet straightened up and all the things that were sitting on top are filed away in their proper places. My basement looks a lot better than it did though I've only been working on it a little at a time.
2for, I'll make it easy for you. Just order the stuff from amazon--the deal that hik was talking about and then a bottle of choline--it will probably be listed on the same page since they are often sold together. Just take one choline pill with each piracetam. Like I said, I take 2/day--one in the afternoon and one before bed since they make me sleepy and since I like the effect on my dreams--dreaming is almost a hobby with me, lol. You should know pretty quickly whether it's having an effect though you will be hard put to say whether the effect is from the pill or you're just suddenly more motivated. BTW, I still take adderall and they complement each other.
Also, sometimes when I'm going out to be social I'll take aniracetam, b/c it makes me more outgoing. Oooh and i have rosacea too--is it supposed to help with that? I just have the redness w/o the pimples but that's b/c I'm careful what I put on my skin and that is only witch hazel and coconut oil.
Well, I doubt it would help with rosacea but all of this descended upon me at once; severe edema, thyroid problems, rosacea. brain fog, kidney issues, fatty liver. So maybe the choline is the key. Something has to be the key because I'm running out of ideas. I've been to every specialist around and nothing gets better. The levothyroxine dosage keeps going up and that's it. Water pills don't even work! I'm going to order the choline right now.
Have fun managing that youth camp, Stepka! That sounds awesome!

OK, I just read this on the Linus Pauling website about choline and dosage:
Quote:
Choline salts, such as choline chloride and choline bitartrate are available as supplements. Phosphatidylcholine supplements also provide choline; however, they are only 13% choline by weight. Therefore, a supplement providing 4,230 mg (4.2 grams) of phosphitidyl choline would provide 550 mg of choline. Although the chemical term, "lecithin" is synonymous with phosphatidylcholine, commercial lecithin preparations may contain anywhere from 20-90% phosphatidylcholine. Thus, lecithin supplements may contain even less than 13% choline (23).
Keep in mind that you need 425 mg/day and some of that will come from your food; meat, eggs, and milk are rich sources. Vegans are at risk for coming up short since they don't eat any of those foods. I dunno Hik, I'm thinking after you listed your health challenges you might be better off just skipping the piracetam for now and taking the choline, or at least get your levels up before you start the P b/c P will use up the choline and I don't have any idea how quickly. I mean, brain fog, fatty liver, and kidney issues are practically textbook signs of choline deficiency from what I've read so far.
And thanks, I will have fun at camp--it's the high point of my year!

This is good stuff. I am going to take your suggestion. In fact, I am just going to stop at The Vitamin Shoppe and get the choline this weekend, rather than wait, and take it alone for now.
Have a blast. You deserve it!
