Anyone remember that back in the 50s. I can't remember what the gum did but it was suppose to have some beneficial quality about it.

It was just regular aspirin, in the form of chewing gum. It hasn't been manufactured or sold since 2006. I didn't look to see why, but my guess is, it simply no longer had the demand needed to justify its manufacture.

I loved the orange salty taste!! My mom used to give it to me whenever I had a sore throat.

Yes! I think my mom gave it to me for sore throats as well. I loved that stuff! I grew up in the 60s and 70s. The other big one was paregoric. My mother would give that to me for a stomach issue. It had a skull and crossbones on the label. I just looked it up. It said something about tincture of opium. I bet. She'd give that to me and I'd go lay on the sofa all day, with a smile on my face.

I think it was probably bad for tooth enamel.
I used to get paregoric too. Very relaxing! And it was good for a stomach ache. I can feel a warmth spreading in my tummy right now, thinking of it.

Yes, I got paregoric too. It would take your breathe away, but soothe your tummy

OMG! Paragoric....They gave that to us when we were teething. When I was pregnant with my son, my daughter was 6 months old and teething. I was awake all night with her, and nothing I did to help her worked, so I asked my pediatrician for paragoric. The bottle read (so many drops by mouth) I can't remember the exact amount as she is 25 now, but I believe it was 10. Anyway, I put that amount in her bottle. The Dr said to me, you put that in her milk? I said yeah, why? She's like, you were supposed to put it on her gums!
