I don't know oh-eve but my dd has the same thing. I'm really concerned about her b/c she just came back from her first semester of college and has gained a lot of weight, is depressed, sleeps all the time, losing hair, really dry skin--in other words, all the symptoms. Yet her TSH was just a tad over 5 and the meds the doc gave her didn't do a thing. They say the TSH test is really sensitive but I can't see as it's all that much of a help. I just found out that you also need vit A to make thyroid hormone properly, as well as iodine and selenium. I also wonder if some people just don't do well on synthetic drugs and need the natural hormone. I'm having her see an endocrinologist as soon as she gets back to campus. (They have much better docs there!)

I also think everyone is just different in how they react to things. Another example is I'm often anemic due to fibroids and I had a doctor look and me and gasp once, "How are you still walking around? A blood count of 7 is extremely low." But I felt fine. My (other) dd's went to 10 once and she had every symptom--it was pitiful to behold.

Also, when I took silicea, it was the homeopathic med. I'm not sure it would help in the case of a thyroid problem though.
