Maybe you guys can help me...

Without going into any personal or publicly humiliating details, I need to ask where, rack your brains! where... can I buy Turmeric, locally? It's an Indian/Asian spice, deep yellow to orange that is used for a variety of uses.

I'm going to be heading out on my lunch break to find it. There's a Giant nearby.. but that's all I know of offhand.

Any thoughts? Whole foods market? (not sure there's one around here) CVS Pharmacy? Does it have to be a specialty vitamin store? What I read online assures me that you can find it along with the other spices, g inger, curry, garlic, etc.. in a food store.

Can anyone tell me where they got theirs, how they used it (some say pastes, some say drink it, mix it with milk, some say soak the roots in lemon juice and eat them raw!) etc.... and what benefits you've found from them? Or am I putting too much faith in a holistic remedy that won't help me.

It's listed to affect the following :

Depression
Blood purifier
Detoxifier
Skin tonic for bruises/cuts/abraisions/burns/boils/acne
theories on the affects it has for specific types of cancer/Alzhiemer's (sp?) Disease
Lessens the visibility of long term scarring or stretching of the skin

The list goes on and on.... my reason for getting it involves the skin tonic area. On top of mixing it with milk and drinking it, you can make a paste out of it by mixing it with baking soda (or was it powder???) and water, or teatree oil, and slobbing it onto the area you are treating, leave it on for a few hours at a time, clean, rinse, repeat.. etc.

Comments, questions?
