Hello I have been sending my grandparents nutrition drinks for two years monthly enough for them to have one each a day and they also have two meals.

I live in a different state and began to wonder if it was ok to give elderly these premade nutrition drinks that are glucise control because Grandpa has type 2 diabeties. Grandpa also gets monthly vitamin B and D shots.

They are in thier upper eighties.

Since I began to worry I tried to ask doctor but they have different doctor and I am not on HIPPA so they would not let me know if it was ok to give grandparents nutrition drinks.

They live independent in thier home.

Do you think I can continue since they have been drinking for two years and give them or do I need to make sure they can take them? Grandma has no health conditions grandpa duabities 2 but these drinks only have 3 grams of sugar.

They will not eat cereal as substitute because they do not like milk.......

I personally believe these are helping with nutrion because they eat a lot of fast food they eat at Hardee's almost every day.

Anyone know if it's ok to give elderly "name brand" protien skaes premade 8 oz glucise control one per day?

As long as the drinks don't raise his blood sugar, I would think it would be okay. Fast food has a lot of sodium and fat, but since they've made it to their upper 80s with no health concerns except your grandfather's diabetes, they must be doing something right.

Real food that is low-carb is much better.

But, being a realist, they are doing OK on the drinks and their blood-sugar is good, I would call that a win.
