I've been taking hawthorn extract in capsule form for several years now. I take 1,000 mg, 3 times a day to control my blood pressure. I used to be on medication several years ago for it, but got so fed up with side effects and stupid doctors that would never listen to me, and then after researching, I found hawthorn. I get mine from Vitacost. Huge bottle for about $18. Lasts me 2 months. And no side effects.

Note from related Vitacost webpage:These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.
But in your case experience "talks". I read the same statement in another hawthorn product distributed by Solgar.
Thats a lot,ma'am!
Hi guys!I am a Greek physics professor and I have just found you by google searching about personal experience of use hawthorn to reduce HBP
A pharmacist specialist in herbs told my that alternatively I can dilute herbs in wine not having additives
So has anybody tried hypotensive herbs diluted in wine;
Sounds interesting but no, have not tried hypotensive herbs diluted in wine but we are making kombucha tea using hawthorn an hibiscus tea as a base. We are making the first batch no so can't offer any info on it's effectiveness. I was under the impression that wine was not the best thing to drink with hypertension.
We have proceeded with these supplements and have read the book "Magnesium Miracle" by Carolyn Dean, M.D., ND and see that 80-90% of people in the West are magnesium deficient and such deficiency causes symptoms which are often attributed to old age when all one needs to do is take magnesium.
The RDA is 150 but she writes that some people need to take as much as 1,000 mg a day (in divided doses as too much at one time causes diarrhea). We wouldn't be without it.
I read The magnesium Miracle and found it quite enlightening. My wife and I have each been taking 500mg a day of magnesium taurate going on 2 years and have noticed no improvement in symptoms. Perhaps I missed the part of the book that said you could take up to 1000mg! Is that really safe? Especially since magnesium taurate is suppose to be one of the forms that is more readily absorbed? What form or product are you referring to? Could you be more specific?
We took Magnesium Taurate from Cardiovascular Research Ltd taking 4 - 125mg capsules spaced throughout the day.
My wife has isolated systolic hypertension for which she has so far refused to take medication for. My blood pressure is normal and has been for decades.
Do you guys think it good to add for anxiety too? I have heart palps, & racing heart but BP is ok yet, though this anxiety can't help it stay that way. I have a few wines to calmdown (also have anti-anxiety med script but hate them) thus wondered if this may help.
My cardiologist (saw him for workup last yr & all is/as well - as of last summer w/ Endo PAT test, etc. - to make it isn't cardio probs) says "no need for any pills/supplement, if you're eating/exercising, just stay natural". But I thought maybe, even placebo effect, would help calm me if none else. Anyone agree? Thx.
Read that until blood sugar problems are solved you can not expect that a natural remedy to your health problems will work. Perhaps this is why my wife has been unable to find a remedy for her systolic hypertension? she has now been on a low-carb diet over 7 months and 4 months ago started taking Cell Forte IP-6 with Inositol. Her blood pressure has come down an average of 20 points so we think we may be onto an answer. She does take other supplements as well, including Life Extension Super Bio Curcumin and Chanca Piedra, etc.
IP-6 + Inositol is suppose to be a remedy for calcification of the arteries which apparently is the cause of her systolic hypertension.
