While a few cups per day of green tea may have some health benefits green tea extract is not the same thing and as a weight loss supplement can be dangerous=
I drank green tea over the years, but never bought supps of green tea. Now I don't drink tea at all, mostly, and drink 1 cup organic coffee in the AM and did get off the 2nd cup daily intake.

I am of the school that there likely is limited benefits to supplemental green tea extracts; however, having said that, some claim that the EGCG properties contained in green tea extracts can do things like aiding in the stabilizing of body weight. While I am skeptical that this occurs in any meaningfully healthful way (green tea extracts have been found to increase stress hormones in the body), there also is little harm in experimenting with reasonable doses of green tea extract. One piece of caution I would put out there though would be if one is going to expiriment with green tea extract pills, it's probably safest to use DE-caffeinated formulations, as those extracts that are not decaffeinated have a very wide caffeine content range which can really spike stress hormones: get your caffeine from a predictable and traditional source, not from an extract (or, if you really want caffeine from a pill, take a straight Vivran type of product where the dose is precisely measured out).
"But in the new analysis, the researchers found that two substances did stand out as posing unique threats to the liver: anabolic steroids, which are are sometimes illegally added to bodybuilding supplements; and green tea extract, which is found in many weight-loss supplements.
The researchers were particularly surprised by the danger posed by green tea extract.
These supplements are not the beverage made from brewing tea leaves in hot water. Instead, they are pills containing concentrated amounts of particular compounds found in green tea, according to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), an organization that tests and reviews dietary supplements.
In the Hepatology study, products listing green tea extract—either as a single ingredient or as part of a blend—contributed to liver damage in 24 of the 130 cases linked to dietary supplements.
Other research suggests that up to 10 percent of people who suffer acute liver failure from green tea extract may die as a result, the researchers said.
Concerns about liver damage from green tea extract have prompted France and Spain to remove a weight-loss product containing the ingredient from the market, according to the USP. And green tea extract is one of 15 supplement ingredients that Consumer Reports has said everyone should avoid."
Adoctor at Moffitt told us not to expect wonders from drinking green tea but it is for sure better than drinking coke, sprite and all the sugar drinks so per his statement it won't hurt and might make you feel better but it won't treat cancer.
