State adds 40,500 private-sector jobs in October
The Syracuse area gained 200 non-farm jobs and 1,900 private-sector jobs over the year. However, the unemployment rate in the area rose slightly to 7.6 percent, up from 7.5 percent in September, which is actually a good thing. It means that more people are re-entering the labor market, and/or more people are moving to the area looking for work.
