Syracuse is a very underrated food town (for those who know where to go). My only gripe (aside from the bizarre obsession with overcooking steaks and burgers) is the lack of good bagels and other assorted deli food. As the city's Jewish population drifted eastward and spread out over a wider area, a big culinary void was left in the city. It seems strange to have a Northeastern city of this size without any adequate bagelries or kosher delis. There's a million-dollar idea for any chef who has a way with pastrami and is looking to relocate to a place with extremely low rents.[/quote]
Very true! I went to SU and now live in Madison,WI which is about the same metro size as SYR.
While Madison is leagues ahead of SYR on nearly every measure, two things are better in the 'cuse, resturants and the people !

and the Basketball team......Yeah, I am surprised that there aren't more Bagel and Deli spots on the East Side and into the Eastern suburbs, where the Jewish community is concentrated.
We miss Wacky Wyatt's in Baldwinsville. Loved it in the summer on a Friday night, great food, live music, play area for the kids and cards for the adults.
Wait, is this a fine dining thread? Cause at WWs you get your food on paper plates and your wine in plastic cup, so it definitely doesn't qualify as fine dining!

Wacky Wyatts closed down. I don't know if the quality went down over time or what the story is, but when I went there everything was from Sysco, frozen, and then reheated. It was awful.

Quality must have gone down, because it was alright. Big portions and good quesadillas.
I love Prime Rib at Dominicks on a Sat. night, it's the greatest PR ever.
