Benifits are generational.

My parents wanted a pension and insurance.

Pensions were gone long before I started working but I wanted insurance.

My kids just take the cash cause very few places here often benifits anymore. They pay the 500 a year Obamacare tax and do without.

There are still many jobs that offer benefits and some type of pension.

I think the reality is that some areas are getting jobs that have a reduced status from what they were in the previous location. In turn, corporations are getting in their pockets not only by doing this, but also by getting incentives to relocate.

I know people that wouldn't live any other way. They love them.

Others don't like them. I would be one of these people.

What you do is avoid them if you don't like them. Sometimes it's tough cause they offer some real advantages. Most of the good things they offer make little sense in NY but a lot of sense in nicer areas. You could never sell me on them in NY but in Florida I could be tempted. And I would get in trouble. Might even make the paper.

They are pretty easy to avoid around here. So, you should be good.

That's a requirement.

My hobbies would probably make them very angry.

If what I'm thinking what you mean by "hobbies" is correct, then you should definitely be fine.
