The seating at Alto Cinco is horrible. We always end up at Munjeds, next door. They have plenty of veggie option.

Agreed. The only real miss for me was their "risotto paella." It was/is a twist on paella that to my taste does not work very well. They have a chronic turnover problem with chefs (I think it is owner related rather than chef related) but I've had fairly consistent food there. It's a bit of an odd space but nice for a casual dinner out.

Well, so much for that. Parents cancelled on me. They're supposedly coming next weekend, but my dad's job pretty much runs his life, so I'm not holding my breath

Do you know anyone else that you could hang with so you can still follow through with your plans?

Yeah, but this was my family birthday dinner - so I'll just see how next weekend pans out. I have plans with some friends Tuesday night and then a few of us are going wine tasting on my actual birthday on Wednesday. I've had cancellations and such happen on my birthday just about every single year for as long as I can remember - so I really shouldn't be surprised. But it still sucks.

If anyone is in NYC and likes cannoli the Cake Boss has opened a shop in Times Square. His cannoli are the best I have ever had by far. And we shot down to Mulberry St in Little Italy to compare and while they were good the CB really is in his own class.

True to birthday disaster form, my girl friend that was supposed to go wine tasting with me tomorrow just cancelled. Awesome. Thankfully another friend is still going so I don't have to cancel the whole thing

What wineries are you going to?

We sampled a few from Montezuma Winery at the Pride of New York Harvest Festival on Sunday; pretty impressed.

Montezuma Winery sells mead, which is pretty cool.
Two wineries I recommend are Thirsty Owl and Goosewatch.
