Both are in Oneida County. The TS is just outside Oneida city which is Madison County, maybe a mile?? The Valley of the Mohawk starts East of Utica, but as a region its fair to call it that.

Prolly pretty close to half way between Syracuse and Utica but just in terms of population its mostly Syracuse people.

I saw Daniel Tosh at the Landmark a few weeks ago - the CHEAP tickets were over $60. I've been a fan of his for years, way before he was famous... I used to see him for $15 so to me $60 is alot. I have no problem paying it though since he is my favorite comedian

Did he draw a good crowd?

Also, because this struck me at the Cosby show, did you sit in the balcony (and, if so, find the leg room a little lacking)?

The tickets sold out within minutes and they ended up scheduling a second show - they were at 7 and 9:30. Both of them sold out. Yes, we sat in the balcony... I'm only 5'2" and was severely uncomfortable in those seats. I can't imagine how a tall person would feel.

I had the same issue at the Stanley Theater in Utica. People are a lot bigger now than when these theaters were built. They renovate everything except the seating because the more people you can cram in there, the more tickets you can sell.

Dining Out: Om Boys Juice and Smoothies Cafe delivers tasty, fresh drinks | syracuse.com

I did not know these guys existed, I was up over the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. I have dairy and gluten intolerance's (I know "TMI"), it is nice to know there is a cafe that caters to food sensitivities right in the Village of Liverpool. It seems they are doing well and considering a downtown location.

By the way, Sean, I agree with your point in the previous post: gaming isn't a wealth generator. It's simply a redistributor, and some of the people from whom that money is redistributed can really ill-afford it. It's a zero-sum game, and any benefits associated with Turning Stone are negated by the social costs of its presence in the Mohawk Valley.

Thankfully, Syracuse has no such gaming presence. With luck, it'll stay that way (though I'm not holding my breath).
I don't have an objection to gaming as a compenent of economic development, but if it becomes the life blood a community like LV, Reno, Atlantic City, etc. it is asking for trouble. My point of "tale of two cities" is that any city that relies on one industry as its bread and butter is poised to fail in the long run. It is interesting to note that Detroit now has three casinos, including MGM within its city limits. I certainly hope that gaming is never seen as a "savior" for large employment in CNY, but I have no objection to gaming in CNY as a small part of the economic landscape. If one is built in Cicero or the Fairgrounds (which I think is a better location for a host of reasons), I don't think it is such a bad thing. Syracuse has diversified from heavy manufacturing and should focus primarily on tech., R&D, meds and eds. I do have an problem with the County waiting on Wilmorite to establish a casino in Cicero or Fairgrounds that will pay for a convention center hotel downtown, the two should not be linked.

And it doesn't really create wealth, just distributes it.
Good points! I don't gamble either, but we like to have dinner and see a show. I hate to say it, but I like the atmosphere, i.e., lights, crowds, etc. I don't have a problem with gaming as a component of economic development, but (you are correct) an economy based on gaming is a disaster.

I was at the racino a couple weeks ago to see the Average White Band. They were really good though very few original members.

Over all we are pretty luck to get this kind of talent in such a small area. Glen Campbell was actual there last weekend. I wanted to go but it sold out before I had a chance.
Doesn't Glenn Campbell have altzheimers? I am sure he can still perform, good for him.

Yep they've been in the Village since the fall I believe. I still haven't stopped in there yet, been meaning to.
