I am a college student at SUNY Oswego, and I have an internship coming up this summer on Bridge Street in East Syracuse. I can't find any place to live that has a short-term lease available. I've been searching for weeks now and I have made phone calls and sent e-mails to various realtors and apartment complexes all across the Syracuse area. All I ever find out is that they have a minimum of 9 month or 12 month leases. I need a 3 or 4 month lease, probably from mid-May to the end of August. I don't necessarily need to live in Syracuse or East Syracuse -- just somewhere within 10 miles would be fine, although Syracuse or East Syracuse would be preferred. Does anyone from the area have any recommendations ? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !

Was TB22 ever able to find a place ? It seems like none of those places suggested in the other post were any good for him.

I would advertise "Summer Sublet Wanted." Surely there is an SU grad student somewhere who wants or needs to be elsewhere for the summer but has to rent on a 12 month lease.

Good advice!

Most places will not rent to you 7 months in advance anyway. I'd worry about it after the new year.

Craigslist - there is a Housing Wanted section and there should be a Sublet/Temporary subsection within that

In addition to Craigslist your should see if the Daily Orange has a Housing wanted ad section. It's the campus newspaper for Syracuse University.

Default To grdnrman

Hi grdnrman,

It won't let me reply to your private message because it says that you have chosen not to allow them, but thank you for the message. I will have a car for transportation, so being on the bus route is not a necessity.

A studio apartment is really all that I need. It is just me and my fiancee living there so we don't really need a lot of space. Furniture isn't even a necessity, but a furnished place would definitely be nice.

I know it's best to stay away from the southern part of Syracuse due to crime. I have heard near the SU campus isn't too bad -- I know someone that lives about 3/4 of a mile from campus.

I will wait to hear more from you.

Thanks again,

Brian
