Here's another part of the city that could work and is somewhat forgotten about: Court-Woodlawn Task Force

We have contacted a realtor in the local area, because we are now considering to buy a home instead of renting one. He also suggested Clay. Any input on that?
If you are looking for walkability, you WILL NOT find that in Clay. Clay is a nice safe suburb that has many of the big box stores nearby, mainly along Rt 31 with Great Northern Mall. So yes you will be near everything you need, but you'll have to drive.

Awesome! I looked into those areas in Syracuse that were suggested, and I think it looks pretty awesome.

The one problem I'm having is that it seems pretty difficult to find a home ((town)house, apartment) in just about any area that will allow dogs, in particular larger dogs. We have a sweet Labrador Retriever who has never damaged anything in any of the places we've rented, so that's kinda disappointing. Is that standard in the Syracuse area?
