Default Pictures Of New Construction-University Hill/Downtown

I took a walk today around the University Hill area and snapped some pictures of the construction that is going on.

Geneva Tower

Cancer Center

IHP Expansion

Connective Corridor

Ronald McDonald House

Kennedy Square Buildings

Biotechnology Center

Connective Corridor Forman Park

I hope this gives everyone an idea of what is going on downtown and on the hill. I'm going to try to take a walk to cafe Kabul sometime this week and will snap some pictures of the projects on Salina St.

Great pics! It goes to show that this is a good time to be in syracuse. whenever you are building, and building at a high rate like we are, good things will happen. This, coupled with our strong schools should make for a an economy which will improve steadily over the coming years.

It's all about cranes and brains!

Really awesome photos, thanks for posting. It was great to see an update on several of these projects.

The Upstate/ESF Kennedy Square building looks even better than the proposed rendering. Sleek, great looking design.

Great pictures, thank you! You are now the official photographer for the Syracuse forum (just kidding)

The Biotechnology Research Center looks great, much better than the original rendering on their web-site. I like the sleek design. Btw, if you look at the first photo of the biotech center, it kind of looks like the bow of a ship, starboard side (respectfully speaking of course).

I am assuming that the Kennedy Square photo is the staging area for the Biotech Center, not the beginnings of Loguen Crossing? Geneva Tower looks much better with the new windows installed.

I wonder how they can fit a 90 thousand square foot center in that small of an area....and i wonder if the dorms really will have the suny upstate sign up top as the renderings show

It'll probably be used as staging for both, but they graded that corner of the site this past June for Biotech staging. No movement on any other construction yet, though I imagine substantial asbestos abatement (which may not be visible to passersby) will have to take place before demolition begins.

Nice photos. Is the Geneva Tower a new build or a refurbishment of an existing building?

Refurbishment of what was once a tower for public housing. The original building (called Townsend Tower) dates from the 1970s and was vacant when the university bought the building from the state. A second near-twin tower (Harrison House) will be undergoing a similar renovation starting next year.

Does anyone happen to know what was in the location prior to 1970?
