No and I know that there is a small conservative Jewish temple on Taft Road in the North Syracuse area too.

In Upstate NY, places like Vestal, New Hartford, Delmar(town of Bethlehem), Amherst, Brighton and many of the smaller cities have synagogues and a Jewish presence to a varying, but noticeable degree.

Yes and no. You have to know where to look.

Both are small cities of 19,000 and 29,000 respectively. They have some built up areas just outside of the city limits, but also have some very nice neighborhoods within city limits too. Both are on lakes too.

Here's an interesting property, as if you look at the map, it is near Shapiro Park. That is a big Jewish family in the Oswego area and I believe that they run this dealership: Leon Shapiro Motor Sales | New Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram dealership in Oswego, NY 13126

Nothnagle.com - 5 Whitetail Circle, Oswego City, NY 13126

More interesting information: Oswego: On Small Town Campus, Chabad Draws Jewish Students In - Campus - News - Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters

Adath Israel Congregation, Oswego, NY

I think Auburn is a great community, but the freeway access is not very friendly in that area unless you live right around the freeway.

Or take Route 5 to Route 695 or Route 20 to Route 175. I believe that the OP is retired. So, I'm not sure if employment would be an issue.

There's also access by taking Route 34 north to the Thruway. My wife takes the reverse route to work.

There are ways in and out of town, but they are far from convenient.

I guess, but do we even know if the OP would have to leave Auburn much if he/she decides to live there? It isn't like it is a Podunk town. You have shopping, arts based offerings, minor league baseball, historical sites and you are on a Finger Lake. There isn't much traffic either. So, if you know where to go, you can get to Syracuse in 30-35 minutes.

Oswego has a college, which offers events, is on Lake Ontario and has some historical sites as well. 481 gives people highway access and the sunsets are gorgeous. It does get its share of snow though.
