Default Family Energy

Just had a couple guys come to my door wanting to give me 10% off my energy bill. Does anyone know if this is legit?

Did they have badges showing what company they were working for?

There's a few companies around the area that do that. Which one were they? I made the mistake of signing up with IGS Energy when I first moved into the Village of Liverpool - they had a guaranteed rate... problem was, it was costing me MORE than if I just stuck with National Grid. While the rate was cheaper, any of these companies charge a "delivery fee." National Grid doesn't charge that since it's their lines, only outside companies use that fee. So when I figured out the total cost of the reduced rate and the fee, it was WAY more than my bill would've been. I had signed up for a year contract and broke it at 6 months... they were supposed to charge me a cancellation fee, but never did, so I never said anything.

If you're only going to be here for less than a year, don't waste your time with anything like that... not worth it.

Yes, they had badges, said 'Family Energy'. Said they can save us 10% on our bill, no other fees or charges. We were a lil nervous so sent them away but got a contact number until I figured out if they were scamming us or not. The contract does say 14 months and we won't be here that long. They said if we move before then (since we are military) we won't have to pay the early termination fee, but I couldn't find where it would guarantee that.

These people are worse then Jehovah Witness's.

They descend on us like a plague of locust every Summer.

Free gift cards, % off deal you name it they have something.

Bottom line is the great evil is National Grid. Your gonna get raped by them no matter who you use. They are supposed to be regulated by the State but its an open secret the State is completely corrupt. Well I guess after yesterdays news its not any kind of secret is it?? I'm sure everyone else was as surprised as me to hear that story.

Definitely not worth it. You won't be here long enough to where it really matters

I agree and just in case, check with the local Better Business Bureau as to their legitimacy.

I would not switch to their service if I were you. ` 10% is not enough savings for me. There could be some sort of "extra fees" that they would charge you; you never know. I live here all the time and I get offers like that all the time and I WILL NOT switch from National Grid.

ugh, Family Energy. I found one of their representatives in my backyard today! He claimed that nobody answered the door and that he's been here a few times and that by law we had to show him our utility bill to see if we were getting some sort of discount. He scared the hell out of me. I don't expect to see strangers in my yard. I have an 8ft brick wall with a 5ft privacy gate leading into my backyard. It doesn't exactly scream 'welcome'. I kept telling him to get out of the yard, but he just kept on talking. He was so nervy.

To answer the original op, in searching for info about FE, I read that you don't save any money by signing up with them.
