CK, and you're saying that Syracuse (Eastwood) to Utica is a bad commute? In distance, it's less but is there more traffic going toward Utica on the 90 then on the 81 northbound?
81 is a much faster road then the Thruway.
They both the same low speed limit but Troop T uses the Thruway as a tax collection point.
ok, and what's the limit on the 90, 65 mph (105-106 km/h) ? In Quebec, the limit is 100 km/h (61-62 mph), however the police arrests you at 117 km/h (72 mph).
So does the police starts to arrest you at 66 mph?

Yes, there is more traffic on I-90 east between Syracuse and Utica, but it is a shorter distance than going from where I was in Liverpool to Fort Drum or Watertown, for that matter.
In NY you can get a ticket at 66 but could prolly squeeze out 70. I go 66 and almost never get passed and then by someone from Mass. On a short trip speeding is retarded.

I'd say that 70-72 MPH is pretty common, but some go 75, if not faster.
On I-81 north, you would have to look out for troopers around Sandy Creek/Pulaski, with maybe a couple of other spots near trooper barracks(Cicero, Adams/Watertown Center, etc.). On 81 south, it seems like you may find them just before Whitney Point.
Say that if you lived in say Eastwood and drove to Con-Med, you would take Thompson Road to get on the Thruway(Syracuse/East Syracuse exit/entrance) and get off at the Utica exit and could take 790(North-South Arterial) to Con-Med. Check that though.
would it be better taking off exit 32, go in the roads to the 840 and then 12 to Conmed? Or I'm better to stay on the 90 to the Utica exit as you said?
He's got his own thread but getting off in Westmoreland makes more sense. But I'm sure he has a GPS and that's the way it will take him.
I had cause to go back and forth to Johnson city. I'd personally say its to far for a daily drive but folks is different. The situation ended sadly but what can you do?

You could get off at Westmoreland, where you take 233 to 5 east. At New Hartford, you can take the Arterial northbound to ConMed.
Both sides of the hill between Whitney Point and Castle Creek exits are notorious speed traps. I think the Town of Barker courtroom is larger than the highway garage.
