I want to find out about those hidden gems in this area.
I used to think Syracuse was not a place for foodies - my view are changing though as I have discovered a few excellent places lately.
I will start out the list by listing 2 of my current favorites:
LOFO
DARWINS
Both are in Syracuse and great for sandwiches and salads on the run.
I range far and wide for good food so syracuse is only one hunting spot and yields the poorest results for me. I also avoid chain places when possible.
Latest rage for my little click is Bella Mia in North Utica. It's literally one minute off the thruway across from the North Utica Shopping Center. No kidding its the best food I have ever had In Upstate NY.
It has been a while, but I thought that a Taste of Philadelphia in Eastwood was pretty good. I've heard good things about Kelly's in Onondaga Hill. Danzer's on Ainsley Drive is another that comes to mind especially if you like Reubens.
Ilario's Trattoria (N. State near St. Joe's)
Black Olive on S. Clinton (moving soon to the old Pascale's slot)
I'm a big fan of Dolce Vita near Syracuse Stage on E. Genesee.
Street Eats (food truck but winters in the Imperial Gardens on James.)
Bianca's in Solvay for hearty pizza and Ironwood in Manlius for *the best* thin crust anywhere.

Is Ilario's still open, as I thought that I saw a for sale sign on the building?
I've also heard good things about Morgan's, which is on Fay Road near the Westcott Reservoir.
This is a bummer, as I wanted to go in the near future.
Another place that I thought was alright, but haven't gone to in a while is Steak and Sundae in Lyncourt. I haven't been since it moved from James and Midler in Eastwood.
I've had some good BBQ chicken from OC's on North Salina Street. Occasionally, I would get some Beef Patties from Jerk Hut.
Bittersweet seems to get good buzz as well.
