Last nights behavior for a coach going to the Hall of Fame in Springfield was deplorable. Boeheim has had a long history of baiting refs but last night went over the line with his profanity laced explosion directed at an Black official who made the call near then end of the game. The ESPN announcing crew said it was a 50/50 call and not a 100% missed called a few weeks ago in Syracuse that cost Duke the game. Also, on further review it was shown that the Syracuse player in question caught the ball out of bounds that the same Black official gave Syracuse continued possession. Is that what we want from our great university and leadership?

Jim Boeheim owes an apology to:

Syracuse University

Syracuse players

Syracuse fans

Syracuse region

the Black official

Duke fans

Mike Krzyzewski

You do realize it is a game, right? He doesn't owe anything to anyone.

When the most recognizable national personality from our region acts up like this in front of millions it gives our entire region a bad name. Yes, an apology is in order! I did not see the class act coach of Duke display any of the juvenile emotions when he was given a worse non call in the Dome a few weeks ago that cost Duke the game. Yes, I'm a Syracuse fan and a former basketball official looking at things with more objectivity.

So had it been a white official, Boeheim would have just sat on his butt and muttered to himself "golly gee whiz, I don't think that was the right call."

Calm the heck down. It's. Just. A. Basketball. Game.

You've got an awful lot of nerve bringing racial politics into a freaking game. And, on top of that, a heavily disputed referee call, hardly a settled matter.

The race of the referee doesn't have the slightest bearing on the dispute. It's a disputed call with major ramifications, which happen plenty in athletics.

(And for history: this is the first time Boeheim has ever been ejected from a regular season game, and second time... ever. Not exactly the history you speak to.)

I think it is a well known fact that now that Syracuse choose to go to the ACC they would not be able to bully the officials like in the Big East. Boeheim would have been tossed many a time in the ACC with his behavior over the years. The Big East officials always gave him a free pass and I agree as he put money in the Big East operation with the SU program. It is big business and a crime these kids don't get paid or have a union. Things are changing as unions are forming with teams in the big ten.

No, it really doesn't. I lived here for two years before I even knew who he was. You could show people all over the country his picture and they would have no clue who he is. He is a basketball coach of a college team in Syracuse. He is not the spokesperson for Syracuse or the region.

I've lived in the Syracuse media market 17 years and except getting the gist from this thread I don't have the slightest idea who we are speaking of.

He doesn't owe me an apology.

I agree with other posters when they say that you can't assume that everyone in the area knows who he is, as many people just don't care for sports or don't follow them but only to a certain extent.
