There's talk of building a new covered stadium near downtown Syr & Syr. University and tearing down Carrier Dome because it's getting older. I support this idea as long as it doesn't require huge amount of City & County Taxpayer money to construct the new Stadium. Any new stadium should be used by both Syracuse University and City/County/Area events/shows/major concerts/entertainment.

This winter season certainly has been a punishing one for all the people living north & northwest of Metro Syracuse in the counties of Wayne, northern Cayuga, Oswego, Jefferson, Lewis, northern Herkimer, & northern Oneida=the usual hard Winters region.

Destiny USA Mall is considering building a new hotel near the Mall. I think this is a good idea. I believe it would be economically successful. Visitors to Syracuse who would be going to the mall, attending the annual Syracuse Nationals Classic Auto Show, the New York State Fair, Syr. University sports events, and other Syr. events & entertainment would stay at such a hotel.

I'd like to hear what all you other City-Data members think about these and other current Syracuse subjects.

The Carrier Dome is a dump and should be closed as it is falling apart. Parking is impossible but let the University pay for it with the revenue from football and basketball. The county and city should get all the parking of a new stadium along with the bulk of concessions. A indoor hockey arena should be part of the project but paid by state/federal and local hotel tax.
