Any recommendations on where I could get a cheap full bed (mattress & box spring) and a sofa or loveseat? Trying to figure out if I should buy them here and U-haul them across, or if I should buy them in Syracuse. Attempting to look things up online, but not seeing anything worth my money.

So far, I've checked:

Furniture Row
Sears
Ashley Furniture (which had NO prices online)
Raymour & Flanigan

Thanks a bunch!

What's your definition of cheap? You may want to try Ikea for the mattress. Personally, I'm a fan of Craigslist for all other furniture, but that's obviously if you're only ok with used furniture.

Default Clearance Center

I would also check out Raymour & Flanigan Clearance Center in Liverpool on Route 57. You would have to go in person, though, as the stuff in the Clearance Center is not posted online. Clearance Center items are cheaper than the website items.

Well, I'm in Syracuse at my apartment now. Nut my mom, who wasn't able to come with me to choose it, doesn't like it very much. So, I am attempting to start the process over again just to see if I can find something a bit closer to campus/more secure that would ease her mind more and the paranoia that is building within me.

Going to contact Jefferson & Madison Towers tomorrow and see if they have any vacancies.

Honest opinions/rumors/gossip about those two buildings and the area their in?

If you don't mind me asking, but where did you end up?

I think would be fine in either one due to being in a very visible area and the Public Safety Building is right across the street. I would still check for more information to make sure if it would work for you though.

Also, there are other apartments near Nob Hill that may work like the complex mentioned about 5 posts previously.

I ended up at Vincent Apartments. My apartment isn't terrible, it's just the outside/surrounding area that could be a bit better.

I don't really want anything else near Nob Hill. I'd rather be a bit closer to campus.

When I was looking online, I still couldn't find any bus routes that went right by Jefferson/Madison Towers. Though either one would be in walking distance of my department building.

Yes, the location of either apartment building would be within walking distance of Peck Hall and the Connective Corridor Bus Line, which would take you to campus.

Some of the listings here are in between campus and Peck Hall, with some located along the Connective Corridor route: Apartments in Syracuse NY | Syracuse NY Apartments | Houses for Rent Syracuse NY

I almost ended up there. Their prices weren't too bad. Nob hill is overpriced if you end up in one of the old buildings.

Have you checked out Hidden Garden (I think that's the name - Remington Ave) or Clarendon Heights? Those two seem to be in better spots than Vincent and for not too much more money. They are also on the bus routes.

I had gone to Clarendon Heights before, but they didn't have any available units, so I never even got to see one.

I called Jefferson/Madison Towers today and only Madison had an available unit. However, they are pretty pricey, and trying to figure out how to get there wasn't on my list of priorities for the day. I did however check out Skyline Apartments again. I'm still very wary of that area however.

@Miller88, where did you end up? Why not Vincent Apartments for you?
