Before the lake effect starts flying? You'd better hurry up. The lake effect machine is due to kick in probably within the next week or two!

TughillTina, sorry no Bennigan's in Syracuse. The only one closed not too long ago.

The only chain mexican place in Syracuse is Moe's Southwest Grill, which really isn't a true "restaurant". There are local mexican food restaurants. Like Juanita's Mexican Kitchen located in the city (northside), Alto Cinco http://www.alto-cinco.com/ located on the eastside in the city, Jalapenos Mexican Food located north of Carrier Circle. There are others too like LA Bamba Nueva Mexican, La Casa Del TE, but I never hear anything good about them. I've never been to these restaurants before, so you might want to check out Syracuse.com and go to the dining forum and ask there for better advice.

If you are just interested in an area that has a cluster of chain restaurants, then I'd recommend Route 31 in Clay/Liverpool. They have chains like Red Lobster, Pizzeria Uno, Smokey Bones BBQ, Panera Bread, Olive Garden, Ruby Tuesday and Chili's. For other chains, you'd have to go to Erie Blvd in DeWitt. They have many of others that haven't made it to the northern suburbs yet.

I also love Mexican. The best I've found is Juanita's Mexican Kitchen.
It's located at 600 Court St. in Syracuse, 4782185. Their taco's are outstanding. I've been to others but they don't match up. It's not fancy but
you can make reservations and there are only a few parking places in front otherwise you park on the street. Head there early, I think they are closed on Monday's.

My mom works at Angotti's. She says sometimes there are lines out the door. Everytime I've gone back to Syracuse I have to hit up Angotti's. They load your plate full of some really good authentic Italian food for a fairly good price. If you ever have a chance to stop by...say hi to Donna

In case you wanted something a bit "beyond" the standard Mexican or Italian restaurant:

Syracuse also has an outstanding Thai restaurant--Erwan on Erie Blvd. the atmosphere inside leaves a bit to be desired--I guess you could call it minimalist, but the food....awmagawd, YUM! It goes WAY beyond any Thai restaurant I've ever been to (in San Diego, LA, or SF). It is "hands down" the best Thai place in the area.

Alto Cinco in Syracuse (Westcott St) also is home to some very good Mexican food. However its more of a bar than an actual restaurant.
