I personally voted "yes" but I do have some reservations. I'm not so sure I approve of creating a sub-forum for both Buffalo and Syracuse while tossing aside Rochester. I would be fully supportive of a Syracuse sub-forum if the Buffalo one were re-named perhaps to "Western New York" to better represent both Buffalo and Rochester. After all, Rochester is much larger than Syracuse, and I believe the Capital District is larger than Syracuse as well. With that being said the city of Syracuse has been in steep decline for decades and could benefit tremendously from having so much exposure on such a popular forum (much as how Scranton has benefitted from similar specific interest).

Rochester and Albany would be next in line in a month or two, depending on how the current sub-forums work. I'm basing new sub-forums on forum activity, not on population numbers.

I think basing on location may work out better.
As in Central, Western, Capital.

I would prefer "central NY" also, because many people only ask about one city because that is all they know, but end up learning about surrounding areas. It would be easier to keep it under one roof.

I'm surprised that Rochester doesn't have one.

I think its good the way it is now. Much of the time, people come in here asking about several places at once. Many of the discussions have to do with upsate as a whole, or several of the cities in one thread. This forum does not move super fast as it is, splitting it up would make things very slow and create a hassle for people that want to discuss brad topics that include several places.

I would do Albany/Hudson Valley before I would do Syracuse. I would remove Buffalo and make it WNY. NYS Forums Should go WNY, Central, Capital/Hudson Valley, NYC/Long island(Downstate). Garmin is right the NYS forum is slowing down.
