Default James Street photos

Here are my photos of James Street in Syracuse, located on the city's north side. They were taken in early April 2005...

I believe these buildings look much better now....

Eastwood area

A few extra...these photos were taken on the north side, but not on James Street

A cloistered monastery

Not much, I know. Hope you weren't expecting more....

You can see James Street on this Center of Excellence Cam. James Street is the main road on the hill in the background.

Looking at that Web-Cam really reminds me why the City of Syracuse looks so depressing and why when I visit I want to go back to the suburbs as quicky as possible.

-Buildings with absolutely no landscaping or greenery
-Buildings without design standards....metal roofs, ugly buildings galore etc.
-Hodgepodge of buildings with little rhyme or reason...a warehouse next to a church, next to a school, next to an auto repair shop
-parking lots in need of repaving
-no curbing, sidewalks in disrepair
-very few modern, attractive, bright, sleek, glass and steel buildings. Just lots of dated gray, brown, white and brick buildings!

Compared to a lot of other cities I should say Syracuse compares rather favorably. Obviously what we see here as in most U.S. cities, is flight to the suburbs.

Hey lilbear,

I think it looks beautiful too! Do you live there?

Bellafinzi should run for Mayor, he has my vote.

Not yet. We're making arrangements to move there. We'll be visiting this summer again.

Great. I'm planning a visit too. And up to Thousand Islands, and over to Saratoga also. Good luck on your move!

Thanks! You too.

I found a house near James street when I was looking online today and thought of your pictures. Makes it really helpful.

Syracuse is a very pleasant looking city. Too bad the local economy is bad, not many big companies left. Personally I think they are expecting the Destiny USA mall project to be their economic savior but I just dont think so. Retail can only drive an economy so far
