Default Favorite local TV Show?

I'm not sure if every mid-size city has as many locally produced TV programs as Syracuse. Honestly, I'd be surprised if most Metropolitan areas between 500,000 to 1,000,000 in population had as many local shows as our community.

I remember growing up and watching WSTM Saturday Showboat and that local bowling show (forgot the name). Some of my classmate even made it on those shows. That was in the 1980s/early 90s. Wasn't around much watching local TV in the late 90s. I have no idea what was airing then. Then came WCNY's "Hour CNY" starting around the year 2000 I believe. That ended a couple years ago. Today there are a bunch of local shows. I'll see if I can remember them all:

1) Bridge Street With Rick & Julie (WSYR)
2) Central Issues (WCNY)
3) Food For Thought (WCNY)
4) Business Close-Up (WCNY)
5) Ivory Tower Half Hour (WCNY)
6) Financial Fitness (WCNY)
7) Syracuse Sidelines (Time Warner Sports Channel 26)
8) With Steve on Sunday (WSYR)

Am I missing any besides the game shows like "Double Down"?

Even though I rarely see most of the programs, my favorite local shows are Bridge Street With Rick & Julie, Central Issues, and Financial Fitness. I know someone who is a true sports nut that never misses Syracuse Sidelines. A few years back, I used to watch Central Issues a lot when the talk of the town was Destiny USA. That show always had the latest info on that proposed project....

Do you have a favorite Syracuse TV show?

I think you've got most of the locally produced shows currently on air. It seems like that there aren't too many left anymore.

The name of the bowling show was "Bowling for Dollars", and Bud Hedinger was the host.

My favorite local show when I was growing up was "The Magic Toy Shop". It makes me smile just thinking about it. Everyone always loved the Play Lady...

The Magic Toy Shop is way before my time...I'm probably a little younger than you.

Thanks for the name of that Bowling show. Googled it and found out some interesting info about the show I wasn't expecting. I had no idea Bowling for Dollars was a national franchise. Apparently many major cities also aired a local Bowling for Dollars.

The list of cities that also had Bowling for Dollars is on wikipedia....

Just remembered another one, channel 5 used to have a show called "Freaky Flicks & Food"....

Julie is leaving Bridge Street With Rick & Julie.....

This stinks, Syracuse is losing another asset...

The Syracuse Soccer Club (the Salty Dogs) left after two years, News10Now left Syracuse after two years, and now Julie is leaving Bridge Street after three years. For some reason, the very things I like about Syracuse seem to leave and the elements I don't care for seem to linger forever....

OK, maybe that was an exaggeration. I guess I'm just tired of some things I dislike about Syracuse never changing...the skyline, the negative population growth, the lack of new construction, the terrible local media, the focus on SU sports and not on things that actually matter in this community. Then when something comes to Syracuse that is new and different that I enjoy, it ends up leaving shortly after. Very tiring after awhile. Just makes me wonder when the tide will turn and things will start going in my favor.....

movinback08 is on a distinguished road
Wow had forgotten about " The Magic Toy Shop" a blast from the past. I also loved "Bowling for Dollars"

How about "Monster Movie Matineee"-think it was in the late 60's. I lived in Watertown/Sackets Harbor then but think it was local. It came on Saturday afternoons and you only saw the host's hand with a ring.
