Default Onondaga County Town Population Map

Here is a little map I created showing the estimated populations of each Town in Onondaga County. The City of Syracuse is 140,000. As you can see the southern half of the county is not as populated as the northern half.

Very hilly terrain, lack of municipal water or sewer lines and the Indian Reservation are the main factors that slow growth in the south towns.

How recent are those estimates bella? If accurate, it is interesting to see that Clay has passed the 60,000 milestone and Cicero the 31,000. Last I heard Clay had a pop. of 59,000 and Cicero 29,000. Thanks for the info.

Don't read too much into my estimates. I rounded up or down to the nearest thousand.

Here are the "official" census estimates:
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/...2006-05-36.csv

For Clay and Cicero I figured the census under estimated. Why? Take a look at the building permits from 2000 to 2007.

2000-2007 Town of Clay residential building permits ~ 1,285
2000-2007 Town of Cicero residential building permits ~ 1,447

source:SOCDS Building Permits Database

The Town of Clay had population of 58,805 in the 2000 Census. So even if you just add one person for every new home built, that brings the population to about 60,000.
