You would be referring to Syracuse's first SpringHill Suites hotel which is currently under construction in the Weighlock Park section of Carrier Circle. I will post a picture under the "Construction Update" thread shortly. Here is the link to the hotel from Marriott's website:

I'll have to check out that Carrier Circle/Bridge Street/Erie Blvd area again soon. Seems like a lot has changed around there lately. Outside of Downtown and the industrial area around Carousel Mall that part of DeWitt needs all the help (development improvements) it can get since it is so representative of the Syracuse area.

As silly as it sounds, I think most visitors judge "Syracuse" based four areas: 1) Downtown, 2) SU Hill, 3) what you can see around Carousel Mall and 4) DeWitt from Erie Blvd up to Carrier Circle.

Great point. It does seem the Erie Blvd area between Shoppingtown Mall and Thompson Road as well as Bridge Street from Erie Blvd to the Wal-Mart in East Syracuse is undergoing a modest redevelopment. Beacon Federal's new headquarters, the Tractor Supply and Aldi's prototype store are good examples of in-fill development in a first-ring suburb. The vacant AmTrak Station that was demolished to pave way for these new tenants was an eyesore for many years. I also noticed that Wal-Mart, while still seedy, has managed to change their classic red, white, and blue facade to an earthtone color which greatly enhances the block.

The Bridge Street corridor has also attracted new investment including the Holiday Inn Express, Planet Fitness occupying the long vacant Bally's, and Olums Appliance anchoring a newly renovated plaza. The new Aspen Dental Plaza on Erie Blvd is also a big improvement as is the reconfigured former Toys R Us building now home to the only Best Buy in the eastern suburbs.

While Erie Blvd is still a depressing corridor, it seems to be holding its own somewhat well given this prolonged recession.

I think the emergence of the Route 31 corridor has hurt Erie Blvd., as has the reconstruction of Shoppingtown Mall. There are some bright spots like Marshall's Plaza and a few new restaurants, but it is an area that needs to recreate itself.

In addition to the Comfort Inn that recently opened in Cicero next to Gander Mountain.....another hotel just broke ground today nearby. This one is Holiday Inn Express.

New Cicero motel: Your Stories Q&A - NewsChannel 9 WSYR

There is already a Holiday Inn Express in the Town of Cicero...in Brewerton (which is in the extreme northern part of Cicero).

I stayed at this hotel alot for business and while searching for a house and I was really impressed by it. Granted at the time it was still in middle of renovations but it was still a nice stay. Nice comfortable beds, decent televisions ( they have since upgraded to LCDs) and excellent room service.

The other hotels I have stayed at in the area that I would recommend would be

Best Western/Gracie Inns--Liverpool (off 7th North and Electronics)--nice, no frills motel. Excellent free breakfast in the morning, very clean, and the two room "suite" is spacious. My only complaint was lack of room service(which in the morning is a huge plus in my book) but the rooms have a 4 cup coffee maker (why I like room service) and mini frig.

Residence Inns by Marriott-Carrier Circle (actually writing this post from there-I am having the first floor tiled in my house). Really nice if you are looking for a home away from home, full kitchen (with actual dishes, glasses, stove, etc), they come in either a studio type room or a 2 bedroom with a living room. Very clean, and modern. Only complaint is again no morning room service coffee but considering they have a 12 cup coffee pot I will survive

jzcrandall is on a distinguished road
I just stayed at the Candlewood Suites at Carrier Circle. It's a very nice facility with very friendly staff (everyone played with my beagle). The price was very reasonable, and they have DVD players in the room with a DVD library at the front desk.
