Hi, any leads on real home made hard ice cream in the area? We know about and like Kimberlys in Caz and Manlius, but always are on the lookout for new places.

There's an ice cream place off Route 11 in LaFayette. Haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to it!

Purity is indeed superior. When down that way we always stop in. I was hoping to find something a little closer to home.

^This and they have had a Downtown location for the last few years. There is a Destiny USA location as well. https://m.facebook.com/GannonsIceCream/ Its Valley location can be packed on warmer days and you can take a quick drive or walk to Webster's Pond to feed the ducks after: http://www.syracuse.ny.us/Parks/websterPond.html

I'm not if it is homemade, but this is pretty good as well: Welcome to Sno Top Ice Cream!

If you're up for a road trip to Penn Yan, then you have to check out Seneca Farms. They have homemade hard ice cream and custard (soft ice cream). They also have a restaurant that features amazing fried chicken amongst other things. They're open March - October for both food and ice cream. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner as is the ice cream shop. Bonus, you can visit Keuka Lake - great state park, Keuka College - gorgeous views of the lake and a wonderful church to visit, Penn Yan for some local shopping. You could also drive further and check out Hammondsport at the bottom of the lake. Cute area!
